ABEOKUTA– Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has been conferred with the most distinguished alumnus award by the African Church Grammar School, Abeokuta.
The award ceremony held on Saturday, coincidences with the 70th founders day celebration of the school, which the former Governor attended.
Speaking with newsmen, Sen. Amosun lauded the old students association for bridging the gap of development in the school, adding that government cannot do it alone.
“Our beloved school, African Church Grammar School, ‘famous for high standards’ has delivered seven decades of academic excellence, dedication, and service to the community, Abeokuta, Ogun State and Nigeria – a testament to the school’s rich history and tradition.
“The African Church Grammar School has and continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the minds and futures of countless individuals, many of whom have become leaders and change-makers in their respective fields,”
“As we celebrate this remarkable achievement, I extend honour and courtesy to the founding fathers, principals, teachers, alumni, and students who have contributed to the school’s growth and success over the years.
” I am grateful for the solid foundation, sound academic, moral discipline and sense of exploration obtained during my time of studentship which have greatly shaped my career pursuits as a chartered accountant and in my public service to our dear Ogun State and Nigeria, where I have been privileged to serve as two-term Governor and two-term Senator.
“I pray that this anniversary serves as a catalyst for continued innovation, progress, and commitment to academic excellence. May African Church Grammar School remain a beacon of light, hope, knowledge, and character-building for generations to come”, he said
Other old students including the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, in Osun State, Barrister Mutiu Agboke, Mr. Adewale Olutayo, Prince Abdulhakeem Ajasa, and Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, among others, also bagged distinguished alumnus awards.
Amosun later commissioned some projects undertaken by the old students for the school including a football pitch, science laboratory, main gate among others.
