ABEOKUTA— His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Suffianu Adisa Jolaosho (Ilufemiloye I), the Olu of Wasinmi in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, is set to celebrate his third year coronation anniversary with thanksgiving to Almighty God for His protection, preservation and faithfulness to him and his kingdom.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Olawale Olayinka Special Adviser to Olu of Wasinmi.
The anniversary, according to the monarch, is an opportunity to appreciate God, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, for His abundant grace and mercy over his life, family, traditional institution and the entire Wasinmi community.
Oba Jolaosho explained that the decision to dedicate this year’s anniversary to thanksgiving was informed by his personal experience, particularly the challenges he encountered during his absence from the palace and his eventual safe return.
The traditional ruler recalled that he was away from his throne for several months due to circumstances surrounding his health, but expressed gratitude to God for granting him the opportunity to return safely and reunite with his people.
According to him, surviving such challenging circumstances and returning to his traditional responsibilities after being away for an extended period was enough reason to give thanks to God.
He noted that life itself was a precious gift that deserved appreciation, regardless of the challenges encountered along the way.
The monarch further stated that the reasons behind this year’s thanksgiving celebration were best known to God, himself, his family, members of the traditional council and the sons and daughters of Wasinmi, who had continued to demonstrate love, support and solidarity throughout the period.
Activities lined up for the anniversary celebration include a special prayers for the Wasinmi community by Christians and Islamic religious leaders, as well as other traditional activities aimed at seeking God’s blessings, peace and continued development for the town.
The programme will also feature a traditional visit to the deities in Wasinmi, during which traditional rites will be observed in accordance with the community’s customs and cultural heritage, including appeasement of the gods of the land.
As part of the activities, the monarch will also receive market women led by the Babaloja and Iyaloja of Wasinmi, providing an opportunity for the market leadership and traders to identify with the traditional institution and celebrate the anniversary with the community.
The grand finale of the third coronation anniversary is scheduled to hold on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at the Oniwasinmi Palace, Wasinmi, where residents, traditional rulers, community leaders, friends and well-wishers are expected to join the monarch in the celebration.
Oba Jolaosho also expressed profound appreciation to his chiefs, particularly High Chief Lawrence Ilori, the Balogun of Wasinmi, and the Adele Oba of Wasinmi, for their loyalty, commitment and support in sustaining the traditional institution and holding forth the kingdom during his absence.
He equally offered prayers to Almighty God for the perfection of his healing, expressing confidence in divine restoration and continued strength to serve his people. The monarch prayed for God’s blessings, peace, unity and progress in Wasinmi, while appreciating everyone who stood by him during his challenging period.
The Olu of Wasinmi also commended the market leadership and the people of the community for their contributions to the ongoing transformation and development of the Wasinmi market and the town at large.
He urged residents to sustain their cooperation, unity and commitment to community development, stressing that collective efforts remained essential to building a peaceful and prosperous Wasinmi and Environs.
