ABEOKUTA– Prof. David Bamgbose, on behalf of the family of the embattled Divisional Police Officer (DPO), attached to Aba Tuntun, a Community in Ijebu Igbo area of Ogun State, SP Solotan Kazeem has appealed to the family of the abducted Costable, Emmanuel Gene to give peace a chance and allow for proper Investigation into the incident.
Speaking exclusively to the The News Ville Wednesday, Prof. Bamgbose said DPO solotan was legally on duty the day the abduction of five police officers took place, contrary to the insinuation the public were made to believe.
He further reteraites that though the family sympathizes with the family of the abducted Costable, he however insist that the focus has been misdirected at the DPO, who himself was badly injured at the ensued incident.
“We sympathise with the family of custable Emmanuel Ogini but we are saying that they are misdirecting their attacks and focus.
“The Ogun State Police Commissioner and authorities have come out to say they authorise the operation done which was done in collaboration with the DSS manning that area so why are they now personalising it, that’s the issue.
“DPO Solotan was also shot, he was also hospitalised. They should just continue to encourage the police to expedite and work more and they should not personalised the issue.
The Educationist also appeal to the government to come to the aid of the gallant officers who has risked their lives more to protect the citizens, adding that ammunition in the hands of people other than security operatives should be discouraged.
“We should not allow ammunition in the hands of the people. Some of the reasons why DPO solotan went to recover in the miscreants and hoodlums hideout are illegal arms, about 24 pin guns according to the report we have been hearing
“We should not allow this to fetch back, we should not allow problems to degenerate , we should nip it at the bud.
“Most of the national security situations we have in the country started as a small fire now they have become conflagration now. We should kill it now before it fester” he posited
Recall that, on December 1st, 2020, arms wielding hoodlums had abducted four policemen and shot a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in an attack on the security operatives at Aba Tuntun, a community in Ijebu – Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State
