ABUJA– Nigerian Youths, under the aegis of Afenifere For Collective Transformation has vowed to resist older politicians in the 2023 general elections.
The group in a press release issued by Comrade Salami Taiwo Ramon.
Chief Press Secretary to the DG and made available to The News Ville stated that the over 80 million Nigerian youths should set aside party affiliation and look in the direction of a young and vibrant Nigerian as president come 2023.
The statement reads, “A coalition of Nigerian youths from the southwest geopolitical zone under the umbrella of Afenifere For Collective Transformation is therefore calling on the over 80 million Nigerian youths in the country to set aside party affiliation and look in the direction of a young and vibrant Nigerian as president come 2023.
“The youths movement under the leadership of the Director General, Prince Tolu Ajayi is calling on Nigerian youths not to diffuse their strength of number into thin air by voting someone from unpopular party but look in the direction of taking leadership through the party in power, APC. This we believe the APC will take advantage of and listen to the cry of Nigerian youths by giving the presidential ticket to a young candidate”
According to the Director General of the group, Prince Tolu Ajayi, “it has come to our attention that some people are looking in the direction of an elder statesman, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as incoming president.
“It is worthy of note that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has had his best days in leadership in his youthful age. He has done his best and we appreciate him for it but to us, we will appreciate him more in advisory capacity this time around than the presidency.
“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains our father and all we demand from him is to support us in seeing that a youth becomes Nigeria president in his lifetime.
“He has helped many to become governor, senator including president as he did in 2015 for General Muhammad Buhari to defeat president Goodluck Jonathan an incumbent president.
“Nigeria and the young generation in the country needs Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu now than before to help install a president of our generation. This we believe he can do as a man who would be ready to set aside his personal interest for the sake of national interest and patriotism.
“The country needs a truthful and straight forward personality to handle the affairs of the country in this trying time and not those who could not speak up when it Matters most.
“We could recall the massive corruption that took place during the Covid-19 lockdown. Governor Yahaya Bello refused to join others in taking advantage of the situation thereby not ready to join his contemporaries in playing dirty politics with people’s lives.
“We believe a young leader like Governor Yahaya Bello deserves the support of every meaningful Nigerian so as to clinch the presidential ticket of the APC.
“We call on Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to do this for us using every internal machiney in his power to make sure Governor Yahaya Bello gets the presidential ticket.
“As a socio political group from the Southwest, we have the right to stand by our own from the region but for the first in the political history of Nigeria, a group is rooting for the emergence of a presidential candidate from another region just for the fact that the candidate has shown enough evidence in term of competence, truthfulness and capacity to deliver”.
