SAGAMU– The Asiwaju of Odogbolu and 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Hon. (Dr) Oladipupo Adebutu, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Onagoruwa family, the Elesi Ruling House, and the people of Odogbolu on the passing of HRM Oba Adedeji Olusegun Atanda Onagoruwa, Elesi I – The Alaye of Odogbolu.
In a statement released by his media aide, Afolabi Orekoya, today, Monday, February 24, 2025, Adebutu described the late monarch as a revered traditional ruler whose reign brought peace, unity, and remarkable development to Odogbolu. He acknowledged Kabiyesi’s unwavering dedication to his people and the rich legacy he leaves behind.
Reflecting on his personal encounter with the late Oba, Adebutu recalled the monarch’s role in strengthening communal ties and fostering progress. He noted that only months ago, Kabiyesi conferred on him the title of Asiwaju of Odogbolu, a gesture that underscored the king’s vision for an inclusive and prosperous town. His passing, he said, is an irreplaceable loss, not just to Odogbolu but to Ogun State as a whole.
While expressing deep sorrow over the monarch’s demise, Adebutu urged the people of Odogbolu to take comfort in the impactful life Kabiyesi lived, emphasizing that his contributions to the town’s development would never be forgotten.
He prayed for the repose of the late monarch’s soul and asked God to grant the Onagoruwa family and the entire Odogbolu community the strength to bear the loss.
