ABEOKUTA: Eminent Real Estate developer and the founder of Olumide &Stephanie Aderinokun Foundation, Chief Olumide Aderinokun has said that food price inflation in the country is not likely to improve anytime soon under President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
The Akinruyiwa of Owu Kingdom made this known in Abeokuta on Monday while answering questions from journalists.
“Herders-farmers conflicts have inflicted serious costs on the Nigerian economy in terms of loss of resources and human lives. These conflicts have jeopardized the prospects of meeting the global goals of poverty eradication and zero hunger in Nigeria, ” the Egba born politician said.
Speaking further, Aderinokun said the Buhari-led APC government has no specific set of strategies to combat the conflicts
“This government has no specific set of strategies to combat the conflicts. Its equivocation and unwillingness to prosecute the architects and perpetrators of the conflicts has emboldened them.
“As long as herders farmers conflicts continues food price inflation will persist.
“Nigeria is endowed with good fecund land, weather and water supply and has the capacity to be self-sufficient in food production. If the right things are done, we could even go beyond sufficiency and become a valued exporter of food.
“President Buhari and his team must improve Nigeria’s food security and earn the country a better position in its balance of payments, which is required to improve economic welfare and people’s livelihood.”
