ABEOKUTA– A Canadian based philanthropist, Mr. Adeshina A. Keshinro, has donated 2 boreholes to Oke-Ido and Iwo Communities in Gbagura Kingdom of Abeokuta.
Speaking with The News Ville after the commissioning, Keshinro said the projects is tailored to given back to the communities that gave so much to his growing up.
Keshinro who revealed that the two projects run into over two million, said water supply is very essential hence the need to donate it to the communities.
He however noted that he does not have a political ambition at the moment, adding that it is good for well meaning Nigerians to always give back without having any other motive behind their philanthropic gesture
Speaking during the commissioning, the Agura of Gbagura, Oba Sabur Babajide Bakre who was elated by the water projects, said the projects would go along way in relieving the people of the areas of hardship faced due to lack of adequate water supply.
Oba Sabur Bakre explained that one of the things that made him joyous at the occasion is the location of one of the boreholes, which he said was at the main road, while calling on other sons and daughters of Gbagura to emulate the kind gesture of Keshinro.
He therefore urged the people to ensure they maintain the facility properly for the benefit of generation coming after them.
The monarch however inaugurated committee to maintain the boreholes.
The representative of Alake of Egbaland, Barrister Oduntan, said the project would go along way in moving the communities forward, adding that the Alake of Egbaland is very happy with projects.
The Chairman of Ido Ifesokan CDA, Mrs Aminu Monsurat appreciated the donor for the kind gesture, saying the boreholes have solved the problems of water supply they have been facing.
Her words: ” I am really happy with the projects. Water supply is our major problem and I am happy that our problem is gone now with this.
“We are going to use it well for our advantage and we are support with committee to maintain the boreholes”
