ABEOKUTA— The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state has officially launched its campaign for the Governorship, and state House of Assembly for the 2027 general elections.
Addressing the crowd of party supporters at the campaign held, Wednesday at the Ake Pavilion in Abeokuta, the gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu declare that the state’s heritage will not be surrendered to political mercenaries.
The former lawmaker criticized the state’s governance over the past 15 years, citing a decline in infrastructure and public administration, adding that the PDP is poised to protect the people’s interests, while emphasizing his deep personal investment in the state.
”Ogun State is the hallowed land of historical titans. We shall never again surrender our sacred heritage to political mercenaries or transient tourists who are totally blind to our tears.
“For over 31 unbroken years, my roots, my wealth, my enterprises, and my sweat have been irreversibly planted in the soil of Ogun State”, he said
He however pointed to the PDP’s past tenure between 2003 and 2011 as a golden era of economic vitality and local government autonomy, pledging to restore people-centric governance to the state.
To address current socio-economic challenges, Adebutu unveiled his governance manifesto, termed “ITURA”, anchored on five core pillars of Strategic Infrastructure, Human Capital & Entrepreneurship, Economic Resilience, Livable Communities, and Transparent Governance
He further said his administration will be committed to paying pensioners their entitlements promptly and restoring full financial autonomy to local government councils, which he noted would create 20 distinct hubs of development across the state.
“On my honor, I, Hon. Oladipupo Olatunde Adebutu, solemnly swear to resurrect the glorious, people-centric governance of the Peoples Democratic Party. We will take back our state, help create prosperity and be devoid of the corruption stifling our progress,” he stressed
