Yuletide: Ogun Amotekun Declares War On Criminals In ‘Show Of Force’.

ABEOKUTA– As the nation prepares for the festive season, the Ogun state security network, Amotekun Corps has declared total war on all criminal elements operating in the state.

The Corps commander, Brigadir-General Alade Adedigba (Rtd), stated this during the ‘show of force’ held around Abeokuta, the state capital, Tuesday.

Adedigba stated that the corps is adequately equipped, and its personnel are ready to combat any breach of law and order, while assuring residents of safety before, during and after the yuletide season.

“This exercise is sequel to the joint and coordinated show of force earlier carried out by security agencies from Ogun, Oyo and Lagos states. The operation commenced from Berger and extended to Ibadan. For residents and travellers moving across the state, the message is clear: it is safe to travel. In particular, the Sagamu-Ore Expressway is secure.

“We decided to stage this show of force in the state capital, with plans to extend it to other local government areas. The exercise is primarily aimed at reassuring residents and indigenes that Ogun State remains safe and peaceful.

“The level of jointness and synergy among all the security agencies has been topnotch. This particular show of force is being conducted by the Amotekun Corps to demonstrate that its operatives are fully prepared and on top of their game. Whenever information is received, swift action will be taken.

“Amotekun operatives understand their responsibilities, and during this festive period, we have deployed more men and vehicles to be proactive, especially because of the increased influx of people through the entry and exit points of the state.

“The inlets and outlets of the state are well covered and effectively dominated. We are taking no risks, so that residents can sleep with their eyes closed during this period. While criminals will always attempt criminal activities, Ogun State is not a safe haven for them”, he said

The commandant lauded the state government for empowering the agency with technological equipments, which according to the commandant has assisted in easing the job of his men.

“The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has put all necessary measures in place to support the security agencies, leaving us with no excuse not to discharge our duties effectively.

“On the issue of Amotekun becoming a state police, this is the right direction to go. If approved today, Ogun State would be among the first to commence full operations, as we are adequately prepared”, he added
