ABEOKUTA – Ahead of the 8th Triennial Delegates Conference in Owerri, the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has unanimously endorsed Comrade Alhassan Yahya as its sole presidential candidate.
The motion for endorsement of the National Deputy President and the leading presidential candidate, Comrade Alhassan Yahya, which was moved during his campaign visit to the Council in Abeokuta by Comrade Hakeem Adegbenro of the Correspondent Chapel and received strong support from Comrade Olufunso Obasan of the State Information Chapel, cited Alhassan’s wealth of experience, indepth knowledge of the Union, commitment to its growth and unwavering passion for members’ welfare, as being in alignment with the council’s yearnings.

The Council Chairman, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju, emphasized the candidate’s alignment with the aspirations of the State Council, which he said has fostered a sense of trust among the delegates. He assured Alhassan of the Council’s total support, underscoring reciprocity upon his election as President of the NUJ.
“Ogun State Council is one indivisible entity. In fact, our solidarity is stronger than ever and our support is unwavering. On election day, we will fulfill our duty as one collective. However, it is vital that you do not overlook the promises made to us during your campaign, especially regarding our inclusion in the national agenda,” Olanrewaju added.
Reacting to his endorsement, an elated Alhassan expressed his appreciation for the trust placed in him, vowing to enhance the Union for the benefit of all members.
“I sincerely thank you for this historic endorsement. We are poised to revitalize the Union, focusing on improving all areas and prioritizing the welfare of our members. You can count on me to uphold my promises to you” he assured.
