ABEOKUTA -The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has flagged off the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS) for about 100 youths in Ogun state.
Speaking at the flag off in Abeokuta, the Director General of the directorate, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo stated that the SADTS is one of NDE’s major programs designed to impart modern and innovative Agricultural farming skills to unemployed persons along with Agric production and distribution system so as to generate profitable farm income and enhance quality of life for the farmers.
The DG, represented by the State Coordinator NDE Ogun State, Oshinowo Kehinde reiterated that there’s a need to reorientate the minds of unemployed persons from searching for white collar jobs that are not available to embracing employment opportunities that abound in the agricultural sector.
She added that the participants should put in their best in order to succeed so that that in due course, they can become employer of labour and agripreneurs, as the NDE attaches very high premium on multiplayer effect of the training schemes for increased job creation.
The Director, Rural Employment Promotions department headquarters, who spoke through Dupe John Paul assured participants that they would received adequate training and upon successful completion would be given loan to establish and start off their own Agribusiness.
Meanwhile, the representative of the acting PM, OGADEP, Afolabi Akinwande informed farmers of the availability of cassava stems and all forms of hybrid plantations that will yield positive result.
He noted that OGADEP is willing to partner and collaborate with NDE and farmers.
The HOD Rural Employment Promotions Department NDE Ogun State, Omitogun Azeez in his welcome address disclosed that some narratives will be changed as participants would be trained extensively in all aspects of Agriculture.
The HOD said, participants were recruited from the 20 local government area in the State, and across the three geo-political zone.
