ABEOKUTA– The Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers (ASSOPPMED) has partnered the Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC) in the war against substandard and fake drugs in Ogun state.
Olori Oluwatoyin Oyedele, the President of the association made this known at the 2022 annual celebration of the association, which includes the inauguration of PCRC unit in the state held on Tuesday in Abeokuta.
The association, which according to her was formed three years ago, with it’s registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and received the seal on 24th June, 2020 is aimed at promoting government regulations that concerns the operations of patient medicine dealers in the society
She also said it intend to discourage quackery in the business from time to time, regular orientation and training in the line of duty to safe lives of customers among others, expressing joy that the association has become a household name across the globe
“This feat is achieved because the members are law abiding by following the rules and regulations laid down by the appropriate agencies and not leaving the support of the Ministry of Health , Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, Nigeria Police and the media. The association is now household name”, she said
Oyedele affirmed that all members of the association are licenced, adding that the body will continued to promote oneness , unity, love, harmony among members for business progress of members
“It is my pleasure to also report here that, all our members are known to the licencing agencies, that is why we are pacesetters. I am highly delighted to welcome you all to this important event which is now turned to be an annual event”, she added
Notable dignitaries in attendance include; Moradeke Martins representing Chairman, Odeda Local Government of Ogun State, Alhaji Semiu Lawal (former Chairman Odeda Local Government), Matthew Eije ,Deputy Commander National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA), Oba Abiodun Solaja(Olu Obada Oko), Omooba Oloyede Makumba and Musiliu Sanni
Other dignitaries who also delivered goodwill messages include; Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji (Founder Penpushing media), SP Abimbola Oyeyemi (Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command), Barrister Kayode Akinsola, DSP Olugbenga Sikeolu (Divisional Police Officer)
New awardees, matrons, patrons and advisers were however decorated, as well as launch of the association’s calendar
