ABEOKUTA– The Member representing Yewa North-Imeko-Afon Federal constituency, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka has played down reports of contesting as Ogun state Governor in 2027.
GNI, as fondly called made this assertion during an interactive session with newsmen, Sunday in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
Recall that the debate as to who succeeds Dapo Abiodun in 2027 has been rife, with several stakeholders pointing in the direction of Isiaka and Senator Adeola Olamilekan, who many believe are the real challenger from Ogun West region.
The three time governorship candidate stated that his present occupation is to represent his constituents, and deliver the democratic dividends, adding that 2027 guber election will take its natural course.
“In January, I granted an interview and I said that on the issue of 2027 governorship election, when we get to the bridge, we shall cross it.
“I still maintain that stance. There is no big deal in running for governor, however when the time comes, nature will take its course, so nobody should be in an hurry”, he added
Reeling his achievements in the last two years, Isiaka said he has been able to sponsored a bill for the establishment of an Agro-Processing & Export Free Trade Zone in our Constituency, which according to him is designed to unlock the constituency for agro-industrial investment, value-chain expansion, and regional export competitiveness.
“To strengthen teacher education and enhance institutional presence in our area, we sponsored the Amendment to the Federal College of Education Act, currently at second reading, to establish Federal College of Education (Technical) in Eggua.
“We have also amplified the voice of our constituents on the national stage. Most notably, we successfully advocated for the lifting of the eight-year ban on petroleum product sales within 20km of border towns, which is a policy that had systematically crippled our economy.
“We are methodically laying the foundation for a constituency where governance produces tangible outcomes, where human dignity is restored through economic opportunity, and where representation carries substantive meaning rather than ceremonial significance. This constitutes our interpretation of the mandate entrusted to us in 2023”, he said
