ABEOKUTA– The regent, Chairman of the kingmakers of Ibese community in Yewa North Ogun State, Chief Tajudeen Adewuyi has debunk a story making rounds that youths and women in the community are on the verge of embarking on protest over an alleged neglect and non-payment of compensation to those whose lands were acquired by Dangote Cement.
Recall that an online media, The Great Achiever Magazine had published that the planned protest was confirmed by one of the leaders, one Mrs Abidemi Oladitan.
According to her, the community has suffered total neglect as there was nothing to show for the existence of Dangote Cement on their land, adding that “the future will be more gloomy for us if we do not stage this planned protest.”
“We are living no stone unturned in our avowed decision to take our destiny in our hands. Enough is enough. We have to free ourselves from the shackles of oppression by the highly insensitive management staff of Dangote Cement PLC,” she posited with worries.
However in a swift reaction, Chief Adewuyi while speaking with Newsmen expresses shock that his name was mentioned in the said story, adding that he knew nothing about where the media got it’s information from.
In his words, “When I read it last night, I was confuse because I did not know anything about it.
“Immediately, I had to call on the women leader of the community and the community youths leader. I investigated and discovered that all those things they wrote are fake.
“You know, some people wanted to cause crisis in this community in which I am totally against. I did not know anything about it. The women did not know anything about it, the youths did not know anything about it, so who is going on the protest?”
“Some people are behind those things, they just wanted to cause crisis just to showcase us to the world that we are having issues with Dangote, but it is a lie we wont allow them”
“There’s peace here, there is no crisis. If anybody cause any crises, I will make sure I hand them over to the security agent” he posited
Chief Adewuyi also maintained that he is an advocate of peace and in support of the peace crusade of the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, adding that anything that may call for crisis in the community is totally unacceptable.
“We have to protect the interests of the government as well as the economy of our state.
“I have told the DSS, that they should please investigate those people that are behind the fabricated news.
“I am the custodian of Ibese community and the environs as am talking to you. I am the Adele of Ibese-Land. We have an elected Oba, so until when the government install the oba, I am the one who issue all directives” he stressed.
