ABEOKUTA— The Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Shuaib Afolabi Salisu has stated that he will engage the media more if elected as senator for the second term.
Salisu noted that having done more than any other senator who have represented the district, he however ruse his lack of media to propagate his activities and achievements.
He therefore added that he will reel out his scorecards to his constituent immediately after the senatorial primaries.
Salisu who disclosed this while speaking with newsmen after the primary election on Monday at Opeji ward in Odeda Local Government.
The lawmaker submitted that over 350 youths recently graduated from an Information Technology training programme facilitated through his office, while more than 2,000 youths across Ogun Central had benefited from employment and empowerment initiatives.
He expressed gratitude to delegates and party leaders following his endorsement ahead of the senatorial primary election.
According to him, leaders and stakeholders across the Ogun Central Senatorial District had, within the week, unanimously endorsed his aspiration for another term in office.
He noted that party leaders, councillors, ward chairmen, local government executives and other stakeholders rallied behind his candidature, describing the support as a vote of confidence in his representation.
“I am extremely delighted by the large turnout of people. During the week, the Council Chairmen of Ogun Central gathered and endorsed me.
“Two days after, leaders again met and reaffirmed the endorsement. The 74 ward chairmen and other party stakeholders also endorsed me.
“When the primary election is concluded, I will present my scorecard to the people. I will show what we have done in education, infrastructure, youth empowerment and digital skills development,” he added
The Senator stated that it was the first time in the district’s history that a sitting senator would have the opportunity for a back-to-back election bid, adding that he remained deeply humbled by the development.
He also pledged greater commitment to the people of the district for giving him another mandate.
Salisu commended Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for what he described as impactful governance and leadership within the state and the party.
“This endorsement is not just about an individual, it is also a reflection of the good work Governor Dapo Abiodun has done in Ogun State. I am proud to have served as part of his team,” he stated.
“This is my ward, Opeji ward and I am extremely grateful to my people for standing by me,” he added
