It is a shame to hear that the only representative of the Youth Constituency in the Ogun State Executive Council with a Green Pen portfolio has been silenced due to power play and the youths are comfortable or jubilating.
I woke up this morning asking myself this simple and pertinent question “Why should a sane person (youths in particular) exchange golden diamonds for coloured paper?” The today youths that ought to support one and other are the one being used against each other for the sake of peanuts. This is so as the Ogun State Commisioner for Youth and Sport is being abandoned by those (youths) who ought to be his voice.
It is a pity that the embattled commissioner for Youth and Sport, Dr. Oluwadamilare Kehinde, got entangled in the mulky water of Ogun politics which is structured in favour of older generations as against the younger ones. To me, he falls to the bait of the political gladiators in Ogun State.
The political gladiators saw his rising profile as a threat to the continuation and survival of their political empires. His success as a Commisioner is a point of reference for other youths to clamour for power shift to the Generation Next. The only option was to axe the torch bearer of the youths or tamed his political growth. When this happened, nobody could stand firm with him in the public till when justice or forgiveness for whatever offence he committed is forgiven. To me, no man not even spiritual leaders is above errors(s)
Up till now, no youth organization or group in Ogun State, his Local Government – Ijebu North East LGA, ward or polling unit has deemed it fit to speak for the lifting of his suspension. The continue silence of every stakeholders on his suspension is a conspiracy which I believe is a threat and as such detrimental to the political growth of youths in Ogun State.
I write to challenge the youth constituency to as a matter of urgency to speak for the lifting of suspension of the Ogun State Commisioner for Youth and Sport. Also, I urge Prince Dapo Abiodun and other political leaders in Ogun State to overlook his errors and allow the representative of the youths constituency play active role in building the future of our dear state.
