Ogun: Olu of Imasayi Begins Traditional Crown Appeasement

ABEOKUTA–The Olu of Imasayi-Yewa, HRM Oba Lukman Adeleke Kuoye will appease the beaded crown that was brought from Oyo in 1776 on October 2nd, 2023.

The appeasement, a long traditional rites for every Olu of Imasayi-Yewa is done at the very day the monarch worn the beaded crown of his forefathers.

This year’s appeasement will be the third year since the Alayeluwa Oba Lukman Adeleke Kuoye ascend the throne of his forebears.

“Traditionally from the time immemorial, the beaded crown would be worn by the new Kabiyesi after visitation to Ika Olokiti-Mefa.

“Before the crown could be worn for some atonement and visitation to the shrines in Imasayi-Yewa before a entering the secluded area for crown wearing atonement.

“It is tradition that the crown must be appeased on the date it was worn every year.

“My predecessor worn it on 18th September and he always appeased it on this date for over 30years the almighty God gave him to spend to the Throne before his demise on 8th July, 2019.

“Late Olu Imasayi-Yewa, Alayeluwa Oba Gbadebo Idowu Oni, Aribi III reigned for successful and impactful 30years”, Oba Kuoye said
