ABEOKUTA–The Apex students governing body of Nigerian Students schooling both at home and diaspora under the auspices of the National Association Of Nigerian Students NANS joins the African Giant in celebrating this year’s edition, in commemoration of the Nigeria’s Independence Day which took place on October 1st, 1960.
NANS as the most populated students movement in Africa is passionately appealing to Nigerian leaders and all Nigerians to unite and embrace peace, aimed at sustaining the labour, and positive motives of our founding fathers in their bid to fight for freedom, equity and social justice for all Nigerians.
NANS however frowns at the incessant killings in some part of the countries by cultists and Unknown Gunmen, kidnap attacks, modern slave trades, oppressions, bullying and injustices among other inimical acts going on in some part of the countries.
On this special day, NANS tenders her heartfelt condolence to the families of Late Abubakar Barda, a student of the Federal University of Dutsinma who was killed by a group of students.
NANS is finally calling on the Federal Government to consider reviewing Education in Nigeria by mandating State Governments to prioritize education which must reflect in their respective budgets, the Security of the nation must as well be considered as only a secured state can be condusive for businesses which will bring about employments and relative development, Health should equally be considered as a priority in Our various States and be treated as such, even as we implore all Nigerian leaders to join hands together in the fight against corruption by exposing corrupt elements in their constituencies.
