ABEOKUTA– A Community Leader, the Asiwaju of Orile-Imo community, Chief Olakunle Olalekan on Thursday appealed to Ogun state government to invest in the sport sector in order to awaken the enormity of potentials in the youth.
Asiwaju made the remark at the sideline of a novelty football match, as part of activities to commemorate his birthday anniversary holding Thursday, September 9, 2021.
He maintained that there is need for the state government to invest hugely in the sport sector, adding that there are several economic benefits lurking up in it.
“What we witnessed today is an eye opener and we have seen today that our youths are talented and they have all it takes to make Ogun state proud.
“I am calling on the state government to invest in sports as this is how we can discover our youths. These guys are talented, they have great potentials in them. Investing in the sector will booster the economy of the state.
The novelty match took place between Asiwaju Foundation Football team and the football College team of Orile Imo with the Asiwaju team coming out tops with two goals to nil
While commending the teams on their performances, Asiwaju disclosed that the football match was an eye opening to the state government to understanding the importance of sports and its economic benefits.
