The Soyode Family of Gidimo Village in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun Ogun has drawn the attention of the Ogun State Government, Police and the entire world to the willful destruction of its Cocoa Plantation totaling about 3 hectares by one Tajudeen Abioye, an alleged land grabber from Osun State.
In a press release jointly signed by Mrs Bisi Jonah, Hon. Banjo Soyode and Chief Rahmon Soyode for and on behalf of the family also accused the Owode Police Area Commander, Irimiya Asimiya of complicit in the matter.
According to the release, “on March 2nd, 2020 one Tajudeen Abioye from Osun State invaded our village, Oba Gidimo in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State and willfully destroyed our cocoa plantation, a joint inheritance being managed by Chief Rahman Soyode, a farmer and resident in the above mentioned village”
“Much earlier, Chief Rahmon Soyode had hinted us of an unconfirmed rumor that one Tajudeen Abioye AKA TJ intends to buy every available land in our area and our joint response was that the land was not and still not for sale”
“But to our greatest surprise, this man did not only encroached the land but illegally and criminally destroyed the continue cocoa plantation measuring 3 hectares”
The family also hinted that they had approached the Police, Owode Area Command to lodge a formal complaint in writing.
The release however revealed that the area Commander, upon the receipt of the petition ‘pretended’ to swing into action by directing one of his men, Mr Raji Wale as the IPO, who was alleged to openly demanded the sum of N30,000 for logistics to effect the arrest of the suspect.
“The Area Commander promised prompt arrest of the suspects and calmed us down that justice will prevail”
“After waiting for more than 3months, the family contacted the Area Commander and the IPO only for the two officers to be coming up with varying submissions on why the man was yet to be arrested” the release added
The family however frown at the disrespect by which their complaint letter, dated 22nd July, 2020 was treated by the area Commander, adding that the accused, Mr Tajudeen Abioye is still a free man gallivanting and boosting that no police can arrest him.
“As a result, the family have decided to send a strong petition on this to the new Commissioner of Police, Mr Awolowo Ajogun, the State Director of SSS, the Ogun State Government and to remain resolute with the prosecution of their case to get justice for our case” the release concludes
