Ogun Assembly Screens Justice Ojo, Longe

 

The Ogun State House of Assembly has screened Honourable Justice Mobolaji Ojo nominated as the President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Ogun State and Commissioner nominee, Mrs Kikelomo Longe, an investment/financial controls and accounting expert.

The two nominees appeared before the State Lawmakers led by the Speaker, Rt Hon Olakunle Oluomo, for screening.

Honorable Justice Mobolaji Ojo while appearing before the lawmakers gave an assurance that he would put in place initiatives aimed at repositioning and preserving the Customary laws which he described as the identity of the people if confirmed.

He noted the legal system being the closest to the people, remained the fundamental part of the people’s culture, which would be redefined to further improve and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the State for the upcoming generations.

Reeling out his profile, the nominee, who hails from Yewa South Local Government of the State, bagged Bachelor of Laws from University of Lagos in 1983, called to bar in 1984 and proceeded to University of Lagos to obtain his Masters of Law(LLM) in 1998.

He was elevated to the high court bench and sworn in as Judge of the State High Court in October, 2000, and subsequently served as presiding/administrative judge in the High Court of Justice in Ijebu- Ode, Ijebu Igbo, Ota and Abeokuta judicial divisions.

 

Also, the Commissioner nominee, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe, who disclosed that the State remained an entity with rich potentials that could be harnessed for more economic growth and development opportunities for the benefit of the people.

Longe, a native of Abeokuta South, bagged Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Lagos, latet became an Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) as associate member in 1986.

The screening of Mrs. Longe brings to 19, the total number of Commissioner nominees so far screened by the ninth Assembly, out of which 18 had been confirmed fit by the Assembly to be appointed as Commissioner in the State.
