ABEOKUTA– The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps has won the maiden edition of the Ogun SWAN Security and Safety Cup.
In the keenly contested final played at the mainbowl of the MKO International Stadium, Kuto Abeokuta on Saturday, NSCDC defeated their Nigeria Police counterpart by one goal to nil.
Speaking at the final, the Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, ably represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Dr. Kehinde Oludare lauded the initiative by the Sports writers in organizing the competition between the security outfits, saying that it will further boost the synergy between them.
He added that the state government will continue to support laudable sporting events aimed at fostering unity and peace in the state, while congratulating the maiden winner of the competition.
Meanwhile, the elated captain of the winning side, describes the final as a cagey match, saying that any team could have won on the day.
The Most Valuable Player of the Tournament goes to Aramide Owolabi of NSCDC, while Ayomide Fisayo won the golden boot award with 5 goals.
Kadejo Adekanmbi of the Nigeria Police was voted Best goalkeeper of the tournament haven conceeded just 3 goals through out the tournament, just as the Fair play award was won by the Amotekun Corps.
All individual awards was sponsored and presented by Hon. Olumide Osoba, the Federal Lawmaker representing Obafemi-Owode, Odeda and Abeokuta North Local Government at the National Assembly.
