ABEOKUTA– The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Halmod, Mr Mufutau Ibilola recently in an interview with newsmen has highlighted the need for the Ogun State Government to maximize the use of the MKO Stadium, Kuto for the economic and social benefit of the state.
Mufutau, the Ijebu Isiwo entrepreneur who recently clocked 60years said his pub at the stadium once paid the sum of N10.5million in taxes to the state government during governor Ibikunle Amosun’s tenure.
In his words, “tax and vat are being paid, during Amosun regime. I paid Ten Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira for tax, which I have the receipt till today”
“After that, 1million, 1.5million annually for all other companies that I have, so I believe we contribute to one or two things in the society”
“The benefit varies and also employment opportunities as i had over 100 staff. The least of my staff receives N15,000 and the most salary was N70,000”
“The last Government said they see teenagers around hawking cigarette so we were askes to vacate the stadium for some time, while they promised to renovate, and to stop teenagers from roaming about”
“Up till date, nothing has been done so we urge the present government to please see to it”
“I have lost over N40million Naira (Forty million naira), it has actually affected me but other branches have been sustaining me till now. But MKO Stadium was the major source where we see our money. The stadium is known worldwide, people would come from outside to relax and enjoy themselves”
“But since they (Governor Amosun) demolish the stadium pubs, I have not seen anything like that time. By His grace now, am 60 years, I have acquired a lots so if I make money now is to help elevate others”
“I would so appreciate if we are allowed back to the stadium, because I won’t say the last government didn’t do well because Ogun state political activities takes place there at the stadium”
“We know how it was during Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s tenure. Commissioners come for meetings upon meetings there”.
“We have approached the present government, the hindrance there is that i guess the government things do delay so I believe if not for covid-19, something would have been done”
“We were told once we have a commissioner to direct the stadium, we are going to resume one month after they choose commissioner then covid-19 lockdown began”
