ABEOKUTA– Popular music promoter, Chief Aremu Bamgboye, popularly known as ‘Ajikiolu’ has refuted claims going rounds in some media that he has been relieved of his chieftaincy title in Ijeja land
Ajiki, while reacting to the purported announcement of his removal on radio stated that the statement is a joke taken too far, adding that the issue of the Oluwo of Ijejaland is already in court so it amount to a pre-emptive measure for anyone to discuss the matter.
He therefore said until the determination of the said suit, no one can lay claim to the position of Oluwo of Ijejaland, even though he was duly certified and installed to the position.
Recall that the position of Oluwo of Ijejaland has been in limbo for sometime, owing to the installation of two candidates, Chief Aremu Bamgboye and Chief Mukaila Akinwande at different times to the position.
However, in a suit instituted against Chief Mukaila Akinwande dated the 24th February, 2021 at the High Court of Justice, Abeokuta, Chief Aremu Bamgboye sort for the later to stop parading himself and performing an functions as the Oluwo of Ijejaland pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.
Ajiki further stated that from the court injuction, it shows that Chief Mukaila Akinwande has no power to exercise himself as the Oluwo, talk less of removing him as a Chief in the town.
“The position they are declaring vacate is not even why we went to court. How can I be challenging the position of Oluwo and someone who has been restraint by the court is now ordering a statement concerning me?.
“As far as I am concerned, I am the Oluwo of Ijejaland until proven otherwise by the court of competent jurisdiction. Therefore, their announcement to the position of Olori-Aje is inconsequential” Ajiki stressed.
