ABEOKUTA– Organise Labour in Ogun State today has declare a 7 days Warning Strike to press home their demands for better workers welfare.
In a release jointly signed by the Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Emmanuel Bankole, the AG Chair, Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Akeem Lasisi and the Chairman Joint Negotiation Committee (JNC), Comrade Olarenwaju Folorunsho, the organised labour stressed that discussions with the State Government ended in deadlock, necessitating the strike action.
According to the release which reads, ” sequel to the declaration of trade dispute with the Ogun state government on critical matters affecting workers in Ogun State, the organised labour engaged representatives of the government in talks and negotiation”
“Unfortunately, discussion ended in deadlock as the state government blatantly refuse to accede to the legitimate demand of labour despite the many concession that the labour movement was ready to make”
“Organise labour therefore have no other option than to embark on a seven(7) days warning strike effective from midnight of Tuesday 15th September, 2020”
It also enjoined all it’s affiliate to mobilize it’s members to comply fully in the warning strike.
It further stated that the warning strike is total, adding that no essential services in any sector would operate during the stipulated 7 days.
