ABEOKUTA– Indigenes of Ogun State at home and in diaspora, investors and captains of industries have been admonished to leverage on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) policy of the present administration in the State to develop its towns,cities and the tourism sector for improved economy.
Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Ogun State, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo gave this admonition at the 2021 Akesan day celebration held in Iperu Remo, Ogun State.
Taiwo said that the present administration in the State, through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism is poised towards preserving and developing all tourist sites,monuments and heritage in general, adding that everyone should capitalize on the sound security, peaceful co-existence and environment and hospitable people which are the vitals required for tourism to continue to thrive in Iperu and Ogun State as a whole.
“One of the enviable virtues and attributes which I would like to implore many warring and unsettled communities of the world to imbibe from the people of Iperu is the concept of Omoluabi and the peaceful co-existence despite the presence of different religious and ethnic groups in the town which are the vitals required for tourism to continue to thrive in the town and state as a whole as there is no doubt that the town with its diverse limitless potentials such as the “Eyo Groove” would make Iperu and Ogun State a preferred tourism destination of choice,this should be our collective yearning and responsibility”.Taiwo emphasized.
A special Adviser to the to the governor on Media,Mr.Ifekayode Akinbode, who commended the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration for its unbiased and equitable development and distribution of resources across all the senatorial districts of the State,adding that the Iperu-Akesan Festival celebration is a that would go along way to boost the economy drive of the people of the community, the tourism sector and the State .
An indigene of the town,Mrs.Bunmi Ogungbesan said the annual Akesan-Iperu festival unites and bonds all sons and daughters of Iperu land both at home and in diaspora together, while projecting the rich cultural heritage of the community world and chatting the way forward for the town and State as a whole.
Highlights of the celebration was the commissioning of the Primary Healthcare Centre , payments of 100 students General examinations fees,monetary donations for the development of community projects by Iperu Descendants Association, United Kingdom.
