ABEOKUTA– A Pan-Nigeria group, Igbimo Apapo Yoruba Lagbaye Council Worldwide, and other affiliated groups has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to implement the Nigeria first policy in order to improve the economic viability of the country.
In a open letter dated 3rd September, 2025 and signed by its President, Aare Oladotun Hassan Esq, the group stated that there is urgent need for the country to immediately stop the licensing of products importation issued by the country’s midstream and downstream petroleum sector.
This according to Hassan will improve local content contribution, thereby addressing the perennial aggravated threats to national energy security and economic sabotage.
The statement further reads, “We are full of appreciation to Your Excellency’s renewed hope agenda’s unprecedented landmark achievements, as well as your indefatigable tireless efforts towards the preservation of peace, democracy, unity and progressive development of Nigeria, most importantly Your Excellency’s laudable Nigeria First Policy launched with verifiable positive Reforms in all sectors of the Economy.
“Your Excellency, Dangote Refinery has abundantly meet the national daily petroleum products sufficiency requirement in due recognition of his uncommon patriotic spirit 20Billion dollar worth of assets and investments to establish the biggest single train Petroleum Refinery in Africa of 650,000 BPD with a over 100million tankfarms reserve capacity to sustain the whole country for more than a year.
“Regrettably, issued licenses to import petroleum products to oil magnates companies promoting international products trading, is a total negation against promoting local refineries, especially Dangote Refinery, which only stimulating energy needed is abundance of crude supply to its maximum capacity of 1.4Million BPD, and this can only be achieved through thorough sustainable business plan of 70% Oil Exploration License to have unimpeded access to oil wells, through an urgent “Crude Exploration Nationalization Policy Synergy Scheme” in partnership with existing owners.
“Thus, this are expected to deliver large pool of huge revenues, employment opportunities and national growth respectively.
“We shall appreciate Your Excellency’s accelerated intervention for an onward investigation over this nefarious clandestinely orchestrated criminal atrocities shrouded in controversy, ranging from the deliberate economic sabotage, constitutional violations, lack of transparency, and external interference in Dangote’s refinery private assets and properties.
