LAGOS– A Nigerian disc jockey, Adebiyi Ayomikun Fuad popularly known as DJ Natty Yo has revealed how he turned his father’s old school stereo amplifier to learning equipment when has no financial muscle to buy original one.
Natty Yo while noting that he had a rough startup experience, added that his father’s amplifier and small speakers were equipment he used at parties in his early days as a DJ.
He, however, lamented that DJs are underrated in the Nigeria’s entertainment industry despite their contributions to its growth.
The final year student of National Open University of Nigeria said he learnt many of the DJ skills by watching YouTube videos and engaging in personal development.
He added, “Dj Spinal, Dj Khalid and also Dj Maphorisa in South Africa are my role model.
“I got inspired by watching top DJs performing at a concert that covers 10,000 – 20,000 guest capacity, the crowd turn up inspires me a lot. So, I said to myself I would be here someday doing same DJ and her we are.
“I have some collaboration projects with some artists, hypeman and top DJs also, yet to be out.
“I have a lot of mixtapes online like the lifestyle mixtape, feel good mixtape, Machala mixtape and more. Recently, I dropped a mixtape featuring hypeman Ruby titled; “Non Stop Vibe”
