ABEOKUTA– The member representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka has donated 100 executive chairs to the Ogun state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
The donation was in fulfillment of his promise to rebrand the council’s hall ahead of its 2025 annual press week.
Presenting the chairs, Hon. Isiaka reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the media as a vital partner in deepening democracy, good governance, and accountability.
He noted that journalists play a crucial role in nation-building, and equipping them with a conducive working environment is an investment in the growth of society.
In his remarks, the chairman of the council, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju lauded the donation as timely, impactful, and a clear demonstration of the lawmaker’s unwavering support for the Union.
He emphasized that the new chairs would enhance the comfort and productivity of members while further uplifting the image of the Council.
The Council boss further noted that the donation reflects Gboyega Nasir Isiaka’s long-standing relationship with the press and his consistent belief in the power of the media to drive positive change.
“Ogun NUJ, on behalf of its members, pledged to make judicious use of the chairs, and we reiterates our readiness to continue upholding the ethics of the profession.
“We therefore call on other well-meaning individuals and institutions to emulate this laudable example by supporting the press in ways that strengthen its capacity to serve society better”, he said
Members described the gesture as not just an act of kindness but a testament to lawmaker’s visionary leadership.
