ABEOKUTA– The Ogun State Government has called on all sports enthusiasts to come out emasse to watch and support Nigeria flagbearer Kwara United as they take on Asante Kotoko of Ghana at the MKO Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta, tomorrow Sunday,
The match slated for 4pm is the second leg of the CAF Champions league after the Nigerian team lost 4:3 in the first leg played in Ghana.
The Afonja warriors had chosen the MKO Stadium, as renovations at the Rashidi Yekini stadium could not meet up with the for the second leg.
According to a statement by the Ogun state commissioner for sports, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, he stated that the CAF Confederation leg match is part of the dividends of the recent National Sports Festival, showcasing the arena as a premier venue for high-profile matches.
“The state government is proud to boast that the MKO Sports Arena has recently hosted notable games, including the CAF Champions League home and away matches between Remo Stars and US Zilimadjou of Comoros.
” It is significant to note that the last time CAF Champions League matches were played in Ogun State was in early 2001 when Julius Berger football Club made the then MKO Abiola Stadium its home venue.
“We urge everyone in and around Abeokuta, the state capital, and Ogun State in general, to come out in large numbers to enjoy exciting football between Kwara United and Asante Kotoko of Ghana.
