IJEBU– A community based group, Tola Adebajo Foundation has assisted some indigent pupils in selected public primary schools in Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu North Local government area of the state, with uniforms and writing materials amongst other essentials needed for the new academic year.
About fifty pupils drawn from St James’ Anglican Primary School 1 & 2, All Saints Anglican Primary School, Christ Disciples Primary School, Shamsu-Suudil Islamic Primary School, all in Ijebu-igbo benefited.
The gesture was designed to assist parents and guardians as parts of efforts of the initiator, Omotola Adebajo to give back to the community and lessen the financial burden of parents as well as encourage students to seeking academic excellence under his “Back To School” initiative.
According to a member of the team, an educationist, Mr. Olufemi Oluyemi maintained that, government can not take care of all the needs of pupils and students in public schools hence the importance of the initiative to complement whatever the Dapo Abiodun-led government has done.
“Tola Adebajo Foundation recognises the pains some of the parents and guardians do go through to meet certain needs of their wards particularly at a time in our country when the socioeconomic activities had not been favourable to the masses. Therefore, what our brother, Omotola Adebajo has done, calls for emulation from other spirited and well meaning individuals in order to give relief to those parents and guardians.”
Mr. Oluyemi said that, the initiator, Omotola Adebajo was passionate about rejuvenating the depraved society, adding that only huge commitment to the education sector would curb vices among students. He encouraged all learners to be of good conduct and take their academic works serious.
He stressed that, Tola Adebajo Foundation berthed the idea five years ago and has imparted lives across communities in Ijebu and Remo axis, maintaining that, the initiative has come to stay.
Meanwhile, benefiting pupils’ head teachers unanimously appreciated the foundation, describing the donation as a great reprieve, considering huge amount the parents would have spent on their wards in a new term.
Head Teacher of Christ Disciples Primary School, Ijebu-Igbo, Gbenga Oyeleru called on critical stakeholders in the society to identify other needs in public schools and make provision to deliver it in support of government’s intervention in public schools across the state.
