ABEOKUTA– The newly inaugurated Organised Labour, Civil Society organisation covid-19 situation room committee today visited Kuto and Lafenwa markets to sensitise and access the level of compliance to health and safety instructions by the Ogun State Government.
Led by its chairman and NLC State chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Bankole said the committee decided to visit the two markets to access the level of compliance to health and safety instructions, owing to the recent easing of the lockdown in the State
“We are here as part of our own contribution to the society, particularly in this pandemic to create awareness and to sensitise our people about the corona virus”
“We are here to tell the people that it is real and it’s killing. We are here to enlighten the people, to create awareness that what you are talking about is for our own good and for our own protection”
“We intend to go to all the market in Ogun State , we are doing it at the state level, the local government will also take it up to ensure that all the market, public places so that we create awareness with the view to , so that people can prevent this things”
“Whatever we want to see how our people are adhering to precautionary measures” he said
Receiving the committee, the market leader, Alhaja Adewuyi Asake appreciate the committee for the health talk, adding that she will further initiate a market unit to enforce compliance
The Kuto market secretary, Owoyemi Steven, concern by the low compliance in the market stated that the market leadership will continue to educate the people on the need to strict compliance to health and safety instructions
“We will still go and educate our people concerning it because we still need to keep the safety of covid -19. We appreciate the government on the part of the easing of the lockdown”
