ODUKPANI– The Chairman of Odukpani Local Government Area, Hon Mrs.Justina Edem has applauded Cross River State Governor Senator Prof Ben Ayade for his immense support and contributions in the health Sector.
She disclosed this during the Covid-19 Sensitization exercise on Friday at Odukpani Local Government Headquarters to educate the people about the pandemic disease with the aim to empower Community influencers such as religious leaders, traditional leaders, civil base organizations, youths and opinion leaders to participate in the on-going sensitization exercises and to sustain that strategy by letting community members lead the campaign.
According to her the Governor has done well in the health sector especially in Covid-19 Response and approach by giving all the needed support and resources to tackle the fight as well as appointing a Commissioner that has the capacity, energy, ideas, vision and foresight to withstand stress and pressure, think outside the box to get positive results knowing very well that this is a novel virus with little or no knowledge about it. She noted that alot has been done by the LGA team since her assumption as the Local Government Chairman.
She said even before the commencement of the Statewide sensitization exercise the LGA have carried out massive sensitization and awareness campaign to inform the people about the virus.
“We will take this message again to every nook and crannies of our communities, we will continue to sensitize our people on the importance of abiding to these laid down guidelines and at the end we will wipe COVID-19 out just like we did with Polio; she said.
The Chairman who was accompanied by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Betta Edu, The DG of Cross River State Primary Healthcare, Dr Janet Ekpenyong and the Vice Chairman of Odukpani LGA, Hon Enefiok Inyang visited the market and other public places to sensitize the people as well as community samples collection and distribution of thousands of facemasks, hand sanitizers and other palliatives.
