BREAKING: After Blueprint, The News Ville Report, Ogun Amotekun Releases Illegally Detained Suspects

ABEOKUTA — The Ogun Amotekun corp commander, CP David Akinremi rtd has ordered the release of all illegally detained suspects in its cells.

This is sequel to a report from Blueprint Newspaper and The News Ville corespondent on the illegal detention and torture of suspects under the local security outfit.

According to a reliable source, all suspects in the Abeokuta cell has been released as at Friday, the 28th of April, 2023.

Recall that Blueprint Newspaper and The News Ville correspondent in Ogun state, Hakeem Adegbenro had reported about the illegal activities of the local security outfit in the last two years of it’s inauguration on Wednesday.

The detailed report had highlighted the activities of Amotekun Corps, stating how suspects were subjected to inhumane torture without recourse to fundamental human right, and the rule of law which subscribed that a suspects is assumed innocent until proven otherwise in court.

One of the released suspects who preferred his name not mentioned said his incarceration in the cell, without being taken to court is an afront to the rule of law.

He added that with time, he will seek redress in court, saying that he is not guilty of charges against him, but was never allowed to state his side.
