ABEOKUTA– The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ogun JCC has listed members of it’s leadership caucuses in the different institutions in the state, thereby issuing stern warnings to would be impostors to desist from using the name of the association to forment trouble in the state.
In a press statement signed by about 15 student representatives of the different institutions, the student apex body stated that the activities of one Falola Hammed ( Stainless), Bamgbose Tomiwa( Tommy Tee) And host of other claiming to be student leaders in the gateway state must be checked by the appropriate authorities.
According to the statement which reads, “The Senators who are students union presidents or representatives of all tertiary institutions in the gateway state and as well the law making section of the Association, met on Saturday, May 6th, 2023, and a vote of confidence was passed on the Chairman, Comr. Kehinde Damilola Simeon (DA-OSMOS), as stated and detailed in the previous sitting’s resolution, which was published in our communiqué dated May 6th, 2023.
“It’s unfortunate that some elements of destruction, whose antecedents are nothing to write Home about in the Students constituency of the Gateway state put up a memo that contradicted the resolutions that were made in an attempt to falsify and present themselves as the mouthpiece of Nigerian Students in Ogun State to carry out evil acts.
“We will utilize this medium to alert the public and issue strong warning to the culprits of this terrible crime imploring them to politely refrain from doing anything that may threaten the peace and harmony that has been established by this present NANS administration in the gateway state due to their selfish interests. Students in the gateway state are recognized to be responsible, credible, responsive, and dependable, and we will not tolerate any behavior that will tarnish the state’s reputation.
“Furthermore, students senators from across the state inquired with the special adviser to the Governor on Student Matters, Comr. Adeyemi Azeez Amoo, to look into this thoroughly because any further action by these enemies of progress to jeopardize the credibility of the gateway state’s students will not be taken slightly.
“We also want to use this medium to once more re-affirm our Stand with Comrade Kehinde Damilola( Daosmos) Chairman NANS Ogun JCC, and implore him to look away from these evil doers gimmicks and not allow their plot affect his discharge of duties as they are mere distractions.
“We as well hereby implore Security Agencies to disregard the claims of these person’s on the basis that the SA Students to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Comrade Adeyemi Amoo Azeez has a hand in the Sunday evening brouhaha as it is an obvious repel of the enemies chaotic plan on the Gateway state by the Legitimate Student leadership structure of the state
“Furthermore, we implore that the security look into the security threat concerning the forthcoming May 29 inauguration programme as pointed by NANS and NAOSS in the last publication in order to avert possible crises that these shenanigans are plotting against the Government and good people of Ogun State.
“Finally, Section 484 of Nigeria Constitution defines broad impersonation. It states as follows:
“Any person who, with the intent to defraud another person, falsely represents himself as another person, living or dead, is guilty of a felony and faces three years in prison.” On that subject, we’d like to underline that any future impersonations will not be tolerated”.
