ABEOKUTA– Eight Chairmanship aspirants under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta South Local Government area have withdraw from the party primary election.
One of the aspirants, Hon Adedayo Akintoye popularly called, ’D 1’, when contacted confirmed the development, explaining that the decision was done in good faith, and to ensure the party is victorious at the poll
He noted that the 8 aspirants were said to have met and resolved to team up with the incumbent caretaker chairman of the council, Ayodeji Somide, adding that it will also serve as a purpose of unity, and to avoid divided house ahead of the general election.
It was further revealed that the aspirants decided to step down their aspirations in order to support Ayomide Somide, who they claim have performed credibly well as the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Council.
The pact, sources close to the aspirants said, was necessary to give good fight to the most relevant opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at the forthcoming poll, stressing that it was necessary for the ruling party to go out as a one family.
