No fewer than five hundred children at a St Stephens Orphanage Homes as well as destitute at Lafenwa axis of Abeokuta have been shown love in the spirit of yuletide.
They received the gesture at the instance of a humanitarian and leadership group, Junior Chambers International, Abeokuta as a way of giving back to the society.
The children had opportunity to play games, interact with members of the group while various home items and food stuffs were presented as token.
According to the Organizer, they explained that well meaning Nigerians should assist government to reach out to the vulnerable and less privileged in the society particularly at a time when everyone is celebrating.
According to Afegbua Idris Mamood, JCI Abeokuta 2020 President hinted that JCI has keyed into the project for a couple of years to assist the less privilege and show love in every first day of January.
He maintained that the project was designed to show love to the needy and it has been a flagship project for JCI Abeokuta adding that it’s an award winning project within the national and JCI worldwide at large.
“We found out that people need love and alot of things, these are idea of JCI Abeokuta to show less privilege love and make them happy, Mamood said.
Comrade Olamide Lawal who is the Chairman of the project which was tagged “I CARE PROJECT 2020” in his address disclosed that the association made enquiry of what actually to be given to the St Stephens Orphanage Homes adding that the JCI actually brought what they demanded.
His words “We made enquiry of what they need and they demanded because we when we came here, we asked them on how we can actually support them and they told us their needs. So, bathing soaps, detergents, foods items, garri and many more are actually what they sought for” he concluded.
