ABEOKUTA— The 100 Women Lobby Group, South West Zone has condenmed the rising cases of kidnapping in the South West region of the country.
Speaking with newsmen, the Zonal Coordinator of the group, Prof. Olubunmi Ashimolowo said that the destruction of lives and properties especially in the current harsh economy does not portend well for the Yoruba race.
She explained that the 100 women Lobby Group, is a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) that advocates for increase in women’s participation in politics and governance, lamenting that the current security challenges may stall the progress they have recorded so far.
“How can we advocate for women’s political participation when there is no peace in the land bearing in mind that during period of unrest and chaos women and children suffer most,” she decried.
She therefore charged concerned governors and other relevant stakeholders on peaceful co-existence, saying that people now live in fear and businesses which is the mainstay of the westen region economy are collapsing.
“We urge governors and all stakeholders to bring back the peace the Yoruba land have been known for, so that people can live without fear and businesses which is our area of strength can thrive,” she added.
