ABEOKUTA– In the spirit of Christmas, The Hope For New Life Organization has donated cash and foodstuffs to the widows and aged in Ogun to mark the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The Non-governmental organisation at his headquarters situated at Onikolobo, in Abeokuta, feted the widows and aged to a memorable Christmas celebration on Wednesday with a provision of uniform Ankara fabrics for the beneficiaries drawn from the 3 geo-political zones of the state.
Headed by a retired Nursing Tutor, Mrs Bolatito Ade-Onajobi, Hope for New Life Organisation was established in 2009 and got incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission(CAC) in 2014.
The NGO is noted for holding seminars, colloquium, educational support, humanotarian, social welfare, empowerment and medical supports.
Speaking at the ceremony, Bolatito Ade-Onajobi explained that she ventured into establishment of the Non-Governmental Organisation(NGO), after retirement from service, because of her passion to make people happy.
“After 35 years of meritorious service with the Ogun State Government, I retired as Nursing and Midwifery Tutor, and because of my passion towards welfare of people I resolved to establish a Non Governmental Organisation that will be responsible for the wellbeing of the people”
” I kick-started the operations in 2009, and by 2014, Hope for New Life Organisation became incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and we have since remained relevant”, she stated
She however assured that, the NGO has come to stay, adding that the gesture to the widows and aged in the society is going to be a regular affairs.
She added that before now, number of projects of benefits for the aged and widows had being executed by the NGO.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Funmi Efuwape in her goodwill message said, the state government lauded the genuine activities of the organisation in bringing smiles to the widows and aged at all time.
Represented by Mrs Toyin Ogunyelere, the Commissioner disclosed that government is also interested in their welfare, and will ensured rendering support to any Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO’s) which deemed it fit to take care of the widows, aged and less privileged in the society
Meanwhile, one of the beneficiaries, Madam Dorcas Oladeinde while speaking on behalf of others was full of appreciation to the Hope for New Life Organisation for the gestures extended to them even at this period of economic hardship in the country, praying that God grants the NGO success in all it’s endeavors.
