ABEOKUTA– The Joint National Public Service Negotiation Council has berated the Ogun state government over what it termed as lackluster attitude and lack of genuine commitment towards coursing any policy it entered into, in order to alleviate the fast deploring noticeable living conditions of its direct workforce.
The council in a press statement signed by its Secretary, Comrade Olusegun Adebiyi and made available to The News Ville stated further that it drew its conclusion that the implementation of the MoU signed 18th September, 2020 was grossly unimpressive, morale-dampening and ultimately sending helpless State employees to their early graves.
It also highlighted that the issues includes, the proposed amendment(s) on State Contributory Pension Law vis a vis voluntary retirement of workers; 19 months of non payment of deductions; gratuity payment and matters arising; unpaid 7-year arrears of statutory Leave Allowance; and the adopted snail speed on Staff Promotion exercise, amongst others.
The statement further reads, “it is obviously compelling therefore to respectfully request that a purposeful interface be conveyed with Your Excellency so as to nip in the bud possible industrial disharmony in the State Civil/Public Service.
“Council regretfully highlighted that what are at issues still subsist in spite the signed MoU and pronouncements at different fora of Your Excellency, especially at the 2021 May Day Rally.
“It is appropriate to reiterate that Council reposes its absolute confidence in dialogue which, as it were, was the ultimate outlet to collectively find lasting solution to the workers present predicament rather than resort to disruption of norms.
“Council strongly recommend that the proposed inevitable meeting be held at the earliest possible time”.
