ABEOKUTA– One of the front runner to the number one seat in Abeokuta North Local Government in the forthcoming Local Government election, Hon. Wale Bello has stated that the council will experience more Sporting competitions when he emerges the council boss.
Hon. Bello stated this while speaking with newsmen during the grand finale of the Egba Youth Football Championship (EYFC) held at the famous Muda Lawal Stadium Asero, Abeokuta.
The Comprehensive Academy (COMPRO) boss, whose team came runners up in the competition reteraited his desire to sustain the funding of the team, adding that the team will soon play in the Nigerian Football league soon.
In his words, “I have been sponsoring the team for the past 2 years, and I shall continue to sponsor them. Out of 32 teams, they emerged as one of the best 2 today, so they are going to metamorphose into a league playing team at the state level.
“This particular team, we are going to maintain them. When I emerged as the chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, it’s going to be sports galore, not just football.
“I have once played for Ogun State, I was a striker under coach Adegbite. Today, I am the patron of Games Masters Association of Nigeria in Abeokuta North Local Government, so you should expect a lot from me.
“The school where I run, we play football competition. We came first in the Shell-NNPC Competition. We committed enormous resources into it. So, am assuring you that when I become the chairman of the local government, the primary and secondary schools will experience competition throughout”
He however advised that government at all levels should contribute to the continuation of the competition, adding that it will assist in curbing the youths from all vices.
“This competition has kept our Youths busy, instead of engaging in vices. The problem is that after today, what happens; are we going to rest until next year? Something must be done to keep these youths busy” he added
