ABEOKUTA–The Commandant of Peace Corps of Nigeria, Ogun State Command,Olufemi Akinyemi has condemned the increasing rate of violence, cultism, thuggry, drug addiction, rape and others social vices among the youths in the State.
He made this known while reacting to the incident of ritual killing by some young boys in Oke-Aregba area of Abeokuta.
The Commandant Commended the men of the Nigeria Police, Ogun State Command for a job well done in apprehending suspects behind the unjust killing of an innocent girl for ritual purpose, noting that the Corps will also not relent in supporting other established security outfits in maintaining peace in the state.
He added that, as a registered organization with the mandate of re-orientating the youth and instill discipline and Patriotic service in the younger ones, Peace corps of Nigeria in Ogun State have been going to schools to monitor and engage students in order to build quality and responsibile future leaders.
He also called on the State Government, the Nigeria Police, other security agencies and the Human Rights Community to as a matter of urgency organize Peace and Security summit for the youth in the state.
He noted that the summit will redirect the minds of the youth and remind the parents about the needs of instlling moral values in the Children as against the foreign culture which eroded the real value system in the country.
*”I believe that with what happened in Oke Aregba here in Abeokuta where boys of 17, 18 and 20 years killed a girl for money ritual, we can all see that we should not fold arms again and pretend as if all is well.”*

He also appealed to parents to monitor their children and ensure that they know the friends they keep and their state of mind, nothing tbat, if left unchecked most of the teenagers and the youth will later constitute major security threats to the country.
It could be recalled that on Saturday, January 29th 2022; One teenager and two others were allegedly caught burning the head of a girl they killed for money ritual at Oke Aregba area of Abeokuta in Ogun State.
The three of them, Wariz Oladehinde, 17, and Abdul Gafar Lukman, 19, and the 20-year-old, Mustakeem Balogun, were all noticed by a local community security guard, Segun Adewusi.
Mr Adewusi had alerted the officers at Adatan Police Station, who went to the scene, caught the boys in the act and subsequently arrested them.
While the three were caught, one of them identified as Soliu Majekodunmi, took to his heels and was later arrested. He is 18 years old.
The deceased girl (Rofiat) was said to have been lured by her boyfriend, Soliu, to his room where he held her down and asked one of his friends to cut her with a knife.
