ABEOKUTA– The So-Safe Corps on Friday honoured the immediate past Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Ajogun, with an award of excellence for his contributions to the fight against insecurity in the state during his tenure.
The event, held at the Police Officers Mess, Ibara Housing Estate, Abeokuta had in attendance all the Service Chiefs, which includes the SA on Security to the State Governor, AIG Olushola Subair, Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, and the DSS Dept. Director, Mohammed Bashir.
Others includes, Ishaku Kwajafa representing the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Aina Oluwakayode (Amotekun), Comrd. Seni Ogunyemi (TRACE), Onyema John Anayo (Nigeria Immigration Service), Tijani Atahiru Saliu (DIA), DCC Olumide Adebajo (FRSC) and Comrd. Sanni Ogundele (PCRC).
Speaking on the awardee, the So-Safe Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo lauded the former CP for his giant strides, saying that his synergy with other security agencies during his tenure was one of the reasons he succeeded as the Commissioner of Police in the state.
Ganzallo added that he appreciated the former commissioner of police for his diligent works during his service to the Ogun state police force, adding that he can be described as an icon of community policing.
“This is a man that is down to earth, This is a man that will not hide his feelings anytime, anyday no matter who you are to him, and this is a man that I can actually call an ambassador of people policing.
“He is being celebrated because he knows the nitty-gritty of the police force, and we have something for him to show that he served in Ogun state and we appreciate him”, he added
Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, AIG Olushola Subair maintained that the state government will continue to empower the security outfit to carry out it’s activities with uptimum output.
“At the inception of this administration, when vehicles and communication equipments for security were distributed, the So-Safe Corps also benefited from it.
“The government is also looking into the enumeration of the So-Safe Corps personnels. We have put up some documents and very soon, something will be done in enhacing the welfare of the officers”, he stressed
The TRACE commander, Seni Ogunyemi in his remarks, described the former Commissioner of Police as a brother in the line of duty, saying that the synergy he created within all the service chiefs has been the main trusth of the successes recorded so far in the state.
The elated retired CP, Awolowo Ajogun appreciated the rank and files of the So-Safe Corps for the honours done him, saying that it is a further testament that good works pays, even when it seems no one is watching.
