ABEOKUTA–The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) has described the noble Laurette Professor Wole Soyinka as an international mentor and he deserve to be honored on is 518pages work entitled “Chronicles Of The Happiest Peoples On Earth” with the theme “National Survival” at the Abeokuta Club on Saturday 27th, February, 2021.
The Chairman of the association Engineer Paul Oni said that, Professor Wole Soyinka is a blessed achiever.
While addressing, Engr. Paul Oni disclosed this during a press conference held on Thursday 25th of February 2021, at Simeon Adebo library , Abeokuta.
Oni also challenged the Youth to learn and exercise their brain in a positive way and become great positively.
” If an 87 year old man can write a book of 524 pages it is a challenge to youth in any areas of their lives that you have chosen to exhibit your God given talent, do it well, his life is a challenge and he is going to tell us a little bit about that how he is managing to that”, Oni mentioned.
The President of Abeokuta Club Engineer Tokunbo Odebunmi said the award is to celebrate one of the great men of Nigeria author, “we want to celebrate one of the icon of authors and Laurette, We are happy to celebrate him”, Tokunbo said.
He also described Soyinka as a great Scholar of the stature who have exposed literary act to the entire world space.
“It is all his efforts that accumulated to this award, as a Nobel Laurette in the field of literature and you will agree with me that he has done great, not only to himself but to his family, to Ogun State, the Association of Nigerian Authors, to Nigeria and to the continent of Africa and as a living being he has done great to the world”, He submitted.
“That is why on Saturday we want to celebrate him, identifying him with one of his works titled “Chronicles Of The Happiest Peoples Earth”.
“You will also agree with me that he has being in the international space, in terms of human right, in terms of environment, in terms of making sure that everyone has a right to life.
“He has taking battle of a good and healthy environment beyond the shores of this country, he has taken the battle of fundamental human right beyond the shores of this nation and we believe that somebody in that age bracket going towards ninety years and still in the struggle in ensuring that every living soul is important is worth being celebrated”he said.
The Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Professor Felix Olawole is to be among the awardees of the day for his efforts in championing the importation of gas pipeline in Ogun State.
Other attraction of the day is the presence of the Ogun State Gov. His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun as the special guest of honor and the Alake of egbaland, HRM Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo as the Chairman of the day.
