ABEOKUTA– The Ogun State Police Command have confirmed the arrest of 3 suspected herdmen who allegedly attacked a woman with gun and machete thereby cutting off her fingers, while leaving her for dead.
The incident according to the police spokeperaon, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi occured at Oru Community of Ago Iwoye on the 11th January, 2021.
Oyeyemi, when contacted on the phone Saturday by our reporter stated that the victim was reported to have gone to inspect her plot of land, when the suspected herdmen launched a violent attack on her.
“Yes, the incident is true. We have arrested three of the suspects and they are in our custody, and we have equally commenced proactive investigation, and very hopeful that, the other suspects on the run will be arrested in due course” Oyeyemi said
According to a trending audio concerning the incident, a close relative of the victim, informed that the suspects numbering eight, realizing the bodily damage inflicted on the woman following gun shots, and the fear that they may be caught, ran away from the scene, and abandoned their cows, with aim to return when normalcy return to the vicinity.
The police, following information received, combed to the scene, and discovered that the suspected herdmen had ran away, leaving behind their cows.
It however took the surveillance and tactical intelligence of the police that led to the arrest of the 3 suspects around 10pm, when they came back to pick their cows.
The victim was later rushed to the hospital in Ago-Iwoye by sympathizers, but had to be referred, necessitating the family rushing her to Lagos State hospital, Ikeja, where she is presently receiving treatment.
