ABEOKUTA — The Ogun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA) will from Monday, 21st to Friday, 25th November 2022 host the 4th annual Fishery-Aquaculture fair.
The fair slated for the MKO Trade Fair complex in Abeokuta, would be the best ever organised, according to the organisers.
The Commissioner, Ministry of Industry Trade and Investment, Kikelomo Longe at a press conference to herald the fair stated that this year’s fair with the theme: ‘Value Addition, as Catalyst for Sustainable Fishery Aquaculture’, is coming at a time where there is a development of a special agro processing zone which would further boost the agricultural revolution in the state.
Longe while appreciating the top management and excos for their hard work and proactive approach towards the forthcoming fair, said it would help increase brands, teach different funding opportunities and new trends in the industry.
“This year’s fishing fair would be different unlike the previous meant to just invite people to sell their products, beyond that they increase their brand awareness, get to learn about new trends and development in the fishing and aquaculture industry and will have the opportunity to network with other players and participant in the various section of the aquatic chain and value addition.
“They would learn about different funding opportunity and how to access this sources of capital and finally participants would be able to connect with not just existing customers but prospective customers as well”, she added
She however urged all including those without aquatic knowledge to come and learn about potentials that can add to their lives and businesses.
A representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Jamiu Ismail, explained hat the fair would bring about new concept, and enhance the economic activities of the state.
He however implored the youth to venture into agriculture as it would be a solution to eradicating food insecurity and unemployment in the state.
The president, OGUNCCIMA, Engr. Mike Akingbade in his speech explained that the fair which would be opened from 8am- 6pm daily, adding that it is aimed
to showcase products and services while examining the market trends to enlighten those with little or no knowledge of fishery and aquaculture
He added that to promote made in Nigeria products especially those from the state, the fair is designed not only for the small scale, medium and but also for the economy growth of the state especially in agriculture.
