ABEOKUTA– Ogun residents living along the Adigbe-Opako-Obada area of the state have called on the state government to call the men of the state police command to order over the passive ‘unneccessary’ gridlock experience at nights.
Speaking with The News Ville on Tuesday, some of the residents lamented that they are made to face serious hardship when returning home from their various works of life.
A resident simply identified as Kamoru stated that it took the intervention of the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to fix the deplorable road, adding that instead of citizens to enjoy the road, the policemen have resorted in making the road unpleasant.
“When this road was bad, what efforts did the police make to put it right. Now, that they road is motorable, courtesy of our amiable Governor, these people have started ‘extouting’ motorists and causing uneccessary hold up here.
“We go out in the morning and labour hard only for us to return home at night to rest, but these Adigbe policemen would always stand here at nights, collecting money from bike men, and creating artificial gridlock making our lives miserable.
“We want the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to call the commissioner of Police to call his men to order. The road is too small for these kind of ‘illegal’ operation. We need to go home to rest not to starting nursing headaches”, he added
Meanwhile, when our correspondent got to the police check point to seek clarification on the operation, he was turned down by the men on duty.
However, all efforts to reach the command’s public relations officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi proof abortive as at the time of filing this report.
