ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has condemned the recent attack on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) facilities in the state.
This was contained in a press statement made available to The News Ville by the Publicity Secretary, Asiwaju Bankole Akinloye on Friday in Abeokuta.
Akinloye stated that the unpatriotic attack on government facility is a direct confirmation of the party’s genuine concerns about the security and wellbeing of the citizens.
“The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) condemn in strong terms the unnecessary arson on the Abeokuta Local Government office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
“This unpatriotic attack on government facility is a direct confirmation of our party’s genuine concerns about the security and wellbeing of the good people of Ogun state and Abeokuta metropolis in particular, especially following the insensitive macabre walk of shame which threatened the public safety just few hours ago with the state capital.
“From all indications, the attack on INEC and its facilities where thousands of voters’ cards, gadgets and several other valuables were burnt to ashes should not be too far away from the rejected politicians who have lost face with the people and are seeking reelection by all means possible.
“While mincing no words in strong condemnation of the dastard act, we challenge all security agencies in the state to summon and deploy all necessary courage to ensure a thorough investigation into the ugly incidence and expose the identities of those behind the unscrupulous elements behind it.
“We can only hope and pray that Ogun state is not drifting back to the old days of violent attacks on public facilities and persons.
“Apart from this, our party also challenges the ruling APC government as led by Prince Dapo Abiodun, the chief host of the needless political roadshow which brought in good numbers of aliens from neighboring states to desecrate the sanctity and terrorize the peaceful ambience of Abeokuta metropolis, to cooperate with the DSS, the Police and other security outfits in bringing back public peace and tranquility and ensuring that such ungodly attacks are put to stop, not only in Abeokuta, the capital city but indeed, Ogun state in general”, the statement reads.
