Ogun LG Poll Suffers Late Arrival Of Electoral Officers

ABEOKUTA– The scheduled local government election in Ogun state has so far witnessed late arrival of electoral officers, materials and electorates.

When our reporter visited the polling units located at the Oluwo police post, and Fowobi junction, in Obafemi Woke Local Government Area, at about 9:05am, the unit looks deserted with no presence of electoral officers.

Recall that the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) chairman, Barr. Babatunde Osibodu had announced that the scheduled poll is to start between the hours of 8am to 2pm.

When our reporter got to the Obafemi Owode local government secretariat at 9:30am, sensitive and non-sensitive materials for the election are still been distributed to electoral officers.

The Electoral Officer (EO) for the local government, Wale Afuape while reacting to the late arrival of electoral officers to the polling units stated that the sensitive materials for the election arrived at the Secretariat in the morning.

He added that distribution has been seamless and efforts to get electoral officers to the units has started.

“We got the non sensitive materials yesterday but the sensitive once could not be brought down yesterday so it came this morning but we are set and they are ready to move to the various polling unit now”
