ABEOKUTA– As the nation geared towards the 2027 general elections, Chief Olalekan Tunde Ishola has declared his intention to contest for the Ogun state House of Assembly.
Popularly known as TJ, Ishola stated that going by rotational formulae adopted since the creation of the Abeokuta North state constituency, it is the turn of Oke Ona Axis to produce the next lawmaker.
Ishola made this known while addressing party faithful at his consultation meeting, held at Mokola-Ilugun Under Bridge, Ward 5, on Monday.
“Abeokuta is made up of four major communities, Oke Ona, Gbagura, Owu, and Oke Ogun. Currently, Oke Ogun occupies the seat. Before them, it was held by Owu, and prior to that, Gbagura, so naturally, the rotation should now return to Oke Ona and I am proudly from Oke Ona.
“Oke Ona is blessed with many capable and qualified indigenes who can represent us well at the House of Assembly. However, I believe that the leadership from Oke Ona would look more in my direction considering the fact that I’ve been in the race quite long, considering my consistency, party person, loyalty to party and all, those are parts of the criteria that leaders takes into consideration when making selection in that regard.
“If I am given the party ticket, you can be assured that our party will perform excellently and fly its flag gloriously across Abeokuta North Local Government because that’s what people want.
“I have been with the people at the grassroot more than a decade, consistently and i have never at any point deny or ignore my people, you can check the registration rate in Abeokuta North, it was massive because everybody want to vote for TJ.
”I am particularly delighted that this consultation is taking place on Easter Monday, which I see as a blessing.
“I am also encouraged by the presence of respected leaders, I appreciate all the leadership of the party who came, including Islamic clerics, Sheikh Sugar, who honored this gathering simply because he heard about my intention and felt compelled to attend”, he said
The event had in attendance, Hon. Adekoyejo, the Iyalode of Ilugun, Mrs. Modupeola, Hon. Adesina Adeyemi, Hon. Saba, Hon. Lanre Jaji, Damilola Ogunpola, Alhaja Hon. Oluwakemi Ilori, Hon. Saliu Makanjuola; and the Councilor, Hon. Akeem Ajani Folorunsho.
Others included Alhaji Isiaq Adesanya, the Local Government Supervisor, Hon. Kabir Alausa, Prince Ibrahim Adegbokiki, Hon. Nasir, former councilor of Ward 4, Hon. Yusuf Kushimo, Comrade Solomon Akibo amongst others.
